Please Don't Tell

I have always loved shopping in small boutiques that offer unique and special items, but after browsing the city for special boutiques I started to realize that most boutiques were selling the same brands at very high prices. There was no uniqueness and nothing special, plus most items were catered to a very sexy, touristy stereotype of the "Miami Woman". That's when I decided to open Please Don't Tell Shop: we sell romantic and individualistic fashion, from up and coming designers, at great prices (all under $100) Our store is feminine and full of special finds.

Opening a brick-n-mortar was totally out of my budget, so my Shopify store has allowed me to turn my dream into a reality! Now I work full time as a online boutique owner.

How did you earn your first sales? Which channels are now generating the most traffic and sales for you?

I started to create a lot of anticipation through Facebook and Instagram. The day I opened the store I had 5 sales, and every month I see more and more people shopping at my store, some are my Facebook followers or friends, but some people are new customers, they come from Pinterest, Instagram and my personal blog.

Tell us about the back-end of your business. What tools and apps do you use to run your store? How do you handle shipping and fulfillment?

I use Instagram the most with my business, as well as the Paypal app and the off course the Shopify app, which notifies me every time I have a sale (I jump a little every time that happens).

For shipping I use USPS online, and ship my packages from my home, so easy and fast!

What are your top recommendations for new ecommerce entrepreneurs?

My top recommendation is to absolutely love your product, you have to truly be inspired by what you sell, and love it, otherwise it won't sell. I also recommend to have a personal voice on your store. Being a small owner is a great thing and a lot of my customers love that I'm the one telling them which size to get, what pieces are great for their events or handling any other advice they need, so make your personality shine through!
