AyeGear

AyeGear was established in Scotland in 2011 with the aim of manufacturing innovative and high quality travelling aids to meet the demands of the modern tech-savvy traveller.

At the heart of the AyeGear range is the need to adapt to the growing technology sector and to provide practical solutions to tech-savvy consumers who wish to stay connected on their travels. This challenge to provide CAMS (connectivity, accessibility, mobility, and security) prompted the company to design a range of quality travel garments.

What are the key factors that have helped your store be successful?

The key factors that helped AyeGear were finding a unique product and then using social media to its fullest to promote the product. There were literally hundreds and thousands of iPad accessories and iPhone cases on the market before AyeGear launched and we didn't simply want to be added on as "another iPhone case silicone manufacturer."

We shoot a lot of videos. They are extremely effective. We integrate YouTube videos directly into the product page so the viewer doesn't leave without buying! All videos are directed in-house as the CEO has been a passionate video editor prior to setting up this business so that was a bonus coming into this business. As a new store, we had to minimize costs where we could but did not want to sacrifice costs on our store front. We wanted a professional look which would be on par with the likes of Amazon and other well recognized businesses.

We originally started off with one product and one colour in 2012. We now have four products in over 15 colours based on feedback from customers (both existing and potential). We redesigned our website completely this year in 2013 after posting a post on the Shopify Discussion Forums and soon got in-touch with a world class development team who not only redid our website professionally but designed us a dedicated mobile website for smartphones and tablets based upon this growing mCommerce area.

What are your top recommendations for new store owners?

Integrate Social Media heavily into your website and USE it. Many companies think creating a Twitter profile is all you need to do. WRONG. Use it actively, post and link back to your website for good SEO. Engage with your customers and they will appreciate it - you will see a ROI.

Any Closing Remarks?

The challenge to provide CAMS (connectivity, accessibility, mobility, and security) prompted the company to design a range of quality travel garments.
