Can I grant my merchants a 90-day free trial?

If you are a partner who would like to extend a 90-day free trial to a new merchant requesting it, you can select the Add a 90-day trial for the store option when you transfer ownership of the store. If you select this option, then your client must still pick a plan and enter their payment details but will not be charged a subscription fee for 90 days. By extending this offer to your client, your recurring commission payments will be delayed by up to 90 days. Read more about the impact of Shopify 90-day free trial on partners building stores.

If I already transferred the store to my client and they picked a plan, can they still get the 90-day trial?

If the development store was recently created, the merchant can reach out to Support to discuss their options.

Does the partner activity requirement still apply?

Due to the current impacts of COVID-19, Shopify is pausing the Shopify Partner activity requirement as of March 26, 2020, until further notice. Learn more about the temporary pause.

When does my app need to be updated by?

We know that partners and merchants are making adjustments to continue running their businesses smoothly. That’s why we’ve decided to postpone the April 1 version removal to July 1, 2020. Learn what you need to know by July 1st.

Can I switch my client’s store back to a development store?

No, after you transfer the ownership of a development store to another account, the transfer can’t be reversed. Instead, you can offer alternatives to the merchant, such as lowering their plan, pausing their store, or closing their store. Read more about transferring ownership of a development store.

What do I need to be part of the affiliate program?

The Shopify Affiliate Program includes entrepreneurs, educators, influencers, and content creators who inspire and teach their audience about entrepreneurship with Shopify. The program can accept only a limited number of applicants. Learn more about the requirements you need to apply.
